The Macksville City Library has so much to offer– books, computers, magazines, games, audiobooks, children’s programming, and more. We are optimally located- on Main Street and within walking distance of the grade school and high school. With an ornate tin ceiling and original wainscoting, this sturdy, one-of-a-kind building, once served as a country church and a one-room school.
The thing we would really love to have is more ROOM to better serve our patrons! The lot behind the library is ideal for building, and the picture above shows our preliminary plans for an addition to the library. The addition would allow us to have more room for children’s programming, more computers, community functions, adult classes, etc. It would provide us with a shelter in the event of a tornado, and it would bring the library up to date regarding ADA codes, fire codes, etc.
We will be presenting the idea of this addition at the next City Council meeting. It may be a pipe dream for now, but we’ve got to start somewhere. If you would like to see more details on the plans we have so far, please stop by the library.
